SPRING BREAK

It’s that time of the year ladies and gentleman. Technically speaking, today is the first day of Spring, & temperatures are sure to rise during the upcoming days and weeks.

Daylight savings time stopped by and sprang us forward, so now the sun will stay out for longer than before. We’ll see more light & feel more heat, but not without heavy drops of rain, hand-soap & lots of disinfectant spray.

Welcome to the EQuinox

First, lets take a moment to acknowledge what was recently once (& only) known as a refreshing beverage & brew; which has involuntarily been flipped, switched and turned into a whole new VIRAL WAVE that’s being swept across the nation and beyond. Talk about a HUGE drop in stock.

You had absolutely nothing to do with this…. but Corona, you won’t be forgotten for the delight you once were, and hopefully your name isn’t dragged on much more than it already has. But as you might have it, its a different time now ol pal.

This episode is about Spring Break, a special edition of March madness, & maintaining emotional intelligence during seasonal shifts and changes, aka.. The Spring Equinox.

By definition, the Equinox is when the sun crosses the Earth’s equator; causing a change in seasons after a brief balance of day and night.

Per Writer Carole Carlton:

“The word ‘equinox’ simply means ‘of equal length’ & refers to the twelve hours of daylight and twelve hours of darkness that we experience at this particular point of the year.

The equinox happens twice a year, once in the fall and again in the spring, which is similar (but different) to the SOLSTICE, which happens in the summer and again in the winter.

& while we’re on the topic, check out our Winter Solstice playlist by clicking here. It’s available on both Spotify and Apple Music.

The Spring equinox is different than its fall counterpart because of the direction of the earth [in relation to the sun] in the spring versus in the fall. For half of the year, the sun points towards the North Pole, sharing most of its light in that direction. As the earth rotates throughout the year... the sun begins to point its light & heat towards the South Pole, hence the change we see in seasons and climate.

We could try if we wanted, but what we’re NOT going to do is lecture you all on the when’s and where’s of the sun and why it points in the directions that it does. I mean, its fascinating... sure; but for us, the more important part of the EQuinox are in the first two letters; the almighty E-Q.

The E-Q is the brain behind the machine controlling the forces of the earth. Sounds deep huh? Well that’s how deep EQ is.

Emotional Intelligence, or EQ for short, is the capacity to be aware, in control of, and able to express one’s emotions, & to handle interpersonal relations judiciously and empathetically. It’s the ability for us to manage and control the emotions of others as well as ourselves.

It’s a known factual assessment that emotional intelligence weighs the same, if not more than the intelligence quotient (IQ). It’s become essential in managing and relieving stress, communicating effectively, empathizing with others, overcoming challenges and diffusing conflict. The five elements of EQ are said to be self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills. As we continued to study on the topic matter and review our source material, we noticed 4 pinnacle ideologies behind the concept, which you can learn more about in our featured graphic.

If reading isn’t your thing, we’ll soon have all of this content available on our new podcast! More information will be coming soon, so hold tight.

As always, we appreciate you all being here and taking the time. Until next time.... onward, upward, & Godspeed.
